Why we put a camera in the line first
A drain that keeps clogging can be a simple build-up or a broken pipe underground. Cleaning it again will not fix a broken pipe. A camera usually shows which one it is, and where. Sometimes the line has to be cleared first so the camera can get through.

The part of the sewer line on your property is yours to maintain. The public sewer belongs to Louisville MSD. Where one ends and the other starts depends on the address. Ask when you call, or call MSD at (502) 540-6000.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
A clog that keeps coming back usually has a cause further down the line. Common ones are roots, a low spot where waste sits, or heavy build-up. Clearing it again only buys time. A camera inspection shows which one it is.
Should I use a chemical drain cleaner?
It can loosen a light clog, but it rarely clears a heavy one. If the drain stays blocked, the chemical sits in the pipe. Most contain lye, which burns skin and eyes. Do not add a second product or plunge after you pour. If you already poured some in, tell us when you call so we can work safely.
Why does a drain smell like sewer?
Often the water trap under a drain you rarely use has dried out. Louisville MSD suggests pouring about three gallons of water down it. If the smell stays, call us.
