Repair usually makes sense when
- The tank itself is dry, with no leak from the tank body
- The problem is a part: thermostat, heating element, gas control or thermocouple
- The unit is well inside its expected life
- It has not needed repairs over and over
Replacement usually makes sense when
- The tank itself is leaking. A leaking tank cannot be repaired.
- The unit is around 8 to 12 years old and needs an expensive part
- Water is rusty from the hot side only
- It no longer keeps up with the household

Should I drain my water heater?
Flushing some water from the drain valve can clear sediment. If the valve has not been opened in years it may not reseal, so ask us first if you are unsure.
How do I know how old my water heater is?
Look at the label on the side of the tank. The manufacture date is often printed there or coded into the serial number. If you cannot read it, email us a photo of the label.
Why does my hot water run out faster than it used to?
Common causes are sediment at the bottom of the tank, a failed heating element on an electric unit, or a tank that is too small for the household now. We check which one it is.
What does a Lochinvar warranty cover?
Lochinvar is a water heater maker based in Lebanon, Tennessee, sold through professional installers. Its standard residential tank models carry a 6-year warranty on the tank and 6 years on parts; premium lines carry 10 years on the tank and 6 on parts. The manufacturer warranty does not cover labor, and no registration is needed. Ask us about labor on the installation when you call.
