Water line replacement in Louisville

Leaking pipes inside the house and broken water lines in the yard. Parker owns its own excavators, so the digging is part of the job, not a second company.

Signs of a water line problem

The line from the meter to the house is buried, so the first signs are often above ground.

  • A wet or soft spot in the yard that does not dry
  • Water pressure dropped and stayed low
  • A water bill that jumps with no change in use
  • The sound of running water with everything off
  • Rusty or cloudy water from several taps
  • A pipe that keeps leaking at new spots

Your line, from the meter to the house

In most cases the water utility owns the meter and the property owner owns the service line from the meter to the house. When that line breaks or wears out, it is the owner’s repair.

Older lines can be galvanised steel that rusts from the inside, or other materials that are near the end of their life. If a line has had more than one leak, replacing it can cost less over time than repairing it again.

Before any digging, underground utilities are marked through Kentucky 811. We handle that as part of the job.

Why owning the excavator matters

A buried line break usually means two jobs: dig and repair. Many plumbers bring in a separate excavation company for the first part. Parker owns its excavators, so one crew does both.

That also means one conversation and one price for the job.

Call (502) 239-1163
How do I find my main shut-off?

Look where the water line enters the house: basement wall, crawlspace, utility closet or near the water heater. We can show you on the visit.

Will you have to dig up the whole yard?

Not always. It depends on the line, its depth and what is in the way. We will explain the plan and what the yard will look like after.

Why is my water pressure low?

If one faucet is weak, it is often a clogged aerator or valve at that fixture. If every tap is weak, the cause can be a failing pressure regulator, a main valve that is partly closed, or a service line that is narrowed or leaking.

Do you replace sewer lines too?

Yes. See sewer line repair.
